TWIN PEAKS is Still Filming, Now in Paris

It was just last week that creators David Lynch and Mark Frost wrapped production on their long awaited new Showtime revival of Twin Peaks, after seven months and some 140 shooting days. The series cinematographer Pete Deming even marked the occasion by posting the clapboard on Instagram indicating that was indeed a wrap. Time to celebrate with a cup of good black coffee and a slice of cherry pie, right?

Well, not so fast. According to the folks at Welcome to Twin Peaks, it looks like Twin Peaks has actually continued filming this week, but not on California soundstages or in Washington state — but in Paris, France. Not only has David Lynch been spotted there, but so has Kyle MacLachlan, who plays main character FBI Agent Dale Cooper. Also spotted in Paris is series cinematographer Pete Deming. I think we can all do the math here. Without going into too much spoiler/rumor territory, it is known for a fact that much of this new iteration of Twin Peaks will take place outside the town itself, so including Paris isn’t so far fetched.

There is one thing that is very specific to Paris, France that could be used in the new series, and if I were to venture a guess, I’d say that’s why filming is taking place there — in Lynch’s 2001 film Mulholland Drive, there is an eerie location (that might possibly be in a dream) called “Club Silencio.”  Although the original Club Silencio footage was filmed in California, David Lynch owns a club in Paris designed and named after the club from the film. Could Club Silencio be making a return appearance in Twin Peaks? Years ago, Lynch said that he saw his films Mulholland Drive and Lost Highway as “existing in the same world” as Twin Peaks — maybe this will be first on-screen evidence of that connection.

What do you think of a possible Paris location for the new season of Twin Peaks? Let us know your thoughts and theories in the comments below.
