TV-Cap: See Maisie Williams in DOCTOR WHO, Powers Boothe Joins AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D, and More

Two worlds are colliding this weekend. Maisie Williams is guest starring in Doctor Who — Game of Thrones meets the TARDIS. How great is that? Today’s TV-Cap has a clip from that episode of Doctor Who, news about Powers Boothe’s MCU character jumping to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., an interview with The Vampire Diaries executive producer Julie Plec, and more.

A Viking Girl. The most anticipated guest star of Series 9 of Doctor Who (so far) will appear for the first time in this Saturday’s episode. “The Girl Who Died” will featured Maisie Williams of Game of Thrones fame as a Viking girl named Ashildr. We happily don’t know much about her role yet — surprises are fun, aren’t they? The above videos feature a clip from the episode, Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman discussing the premise of the “The Girl Who Died,” and Williams talking about the excitement that happens when fandoms cross streams. Killing Slashers. Image Comics’ Hack/Slash was once targeted for film development, but now it’s headed towards TV. The comic by Tim Seeley and Stefano Caselli follows Cassie Hack, a once victim who goes after monsters, a.k.a. slashers. It’s a horror comic with lots of grit. Relativity Television is producing the series, and they’re currently looking for directors. [IGN]

Witch Hunters on Cable. Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters is another title that was slated for film but is now apparently coming to television. Deadline reports the film sequel has been scrapped, and they’re aiming to turn the story into a cable series through Paramount TV. [Deadline]

More Origin Story. An upcoming flashback in Once Upon a Time will reach back into Hook’s past. We’ve seen his origin story before, but this flashback travels further back to introduce Hook’s dad. Adam Croasdell has been cast in the role. All we know about the character is that he abandoned his son. Rude. [Entertainment Weekly]

The Spookiest Marathon. What better way to celebration Halloween than with a marathon of your favorite horror-themed movies and shows? FXX gets it; the network will be airing all of The Simpsons’ Treehouse of Horror episodes beginning on October 25 and ending on October 31. Prepare your DVR now! Get the full schedule here.

Consequences Are Nigh. Even when decisions seems so obviously right, they’re never without consequences. And when you live in a world with vampires, witches, and worse, those consequences can be terrible. See Exhibit A: The Vampire Diaries. Sydney caught up with series executive producer Julie Plec to talk about repercussions, flashbacks, resurrection, and more. Read Sydney’s entire interview with Plec right this way.

For the Sake of Research. When the Ashley Madison hack happened a few months ago, Mr. Robot creator Sam Esmail’s name was on the list of people using the service. Esmail appeared at an event at the Paley Center for Media and said he signed up for that service as well as eHarmony to research for the series — Elliot does hack into those sorts of sites in order to hack people. Ah, the things we do for the sake of knowledge. [Variety]

Rap Comedy. Donald Glover is awesome. It is known. The actor/musician has just landed a series deal at FX. Glover created and will star in Atlanta. The comedy will follow two cousins navigating Atlanta’s rap scene — this is where I have to admit I didn’t know Atlanta had a rap scene. The show has a 10-episode first season order and co-stars Brian Tyree Henry, Lakeith Lee Stanfield, and Zazie Beetz. [Nerdist]

A Sequel. The latest thing seems to be taking films and reworking them for television in some way, and in the case of My Best Friend’s Wedding, it means a sequel. ABC has ordered a script for a half-hour comedy that would pick up after the 1997 film and follow Julianne Potter’s (Julia Roberts in the movie) life in New York City with her best friend George. I wonder if she’s still a food critic — this is one of many important questions I need answered. [TVLine]

It’s All Connected. Remember how Powers Boothe briefly appeared in The Avengers? He was part of the World Security Council. His character, Gideon Malick, will be returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe via Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Boothe has a recurring role on the series, described as “a notorious man whose loyalties remain a mystery.” Hmm. I hope Boothe gets to stay around longer than Edward James Olmos. [Nerdist]

Will you be tuning into Doctor Who this Saturday? What do you think about Powers Boothe in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.?
