TV-Cap: GAME OF THRONES Jon Snow Update, DOCTOR WHO Season 9 Premiere Photos, & More

Where has the time gone? We are only days away from seeing the twelfth Doctor (Peter Capaldi) and Clara Oswald (Jenna Coleman) jump into the TARDIS and into new adventures through time and space. Season nine of Doctor Who is so very close. Read today’s TV-Cap to see photos from the premiere episode, to learn about Alfre Woodard’s role in Luke Cage, to get the latest from Kit Harington about his role on Game of Thrones, and more.

Rock Out. When Doctor Who returns on September 19 (and yes, that is this weekend!), the Doctor will be jamming on the guitar and facing Missy. Michelle Gomez is reprising her role as the popular character in “The Magician’s Apprentice,” and it looks like her and Clara have an interesting run-in. See a gallery with 20 glorious photos at Coming Soon.

No Deadites Allowed. Headed to New York Comic Con? Here’s one more panel to add to your schedule: Starz is bringing Ash vs. Evil Dead’s Bruce Campbell, Sam Raimi, Craig DiGregorio, Lucy Lawless, Ray Santiago, and Dana DeLorenzo to the convention for a panel on Saturday, October 10, at 3:00pm. They’ll also do an autograph signing earlier on that day. [IGN]

Role Confirmed. It was rumored that the eminently talented Alfre Woodard was joining the cast of Luke Cage, and now her role has been confirmed. She’ll be playing Mariah Dillard. As you can see from the sign, she’s a politician and she wants to bring change to her hometown of Harlem. Cornell “Cottonmouth” Stokes is her cousin — I bet that leads to some interesting conversations at family gatherings. [Deadline]

It’s About Time. NBC’s American Ninja Warrior has been on for seven seasons, but in that long stretch, no one has ever won the competition. The third stage of the course was too much until the recent season seven finale. Not one but two men — Geoff Britten and Isaac Caldiero — completed the challenge. Caldiero beat Britten’s time and took home one million dollars. You can see him complete the end of the obstacles in the above video. [Variety]

Conspiracies In Development. Everything is fodder for rebooting or turning into a television series. Proof? Remember the 2001 film Behind Enemy Lines starring Gene Hackman and Owen Wilson? I didn’t, but maybe your memory is better than mine. The film about a Navy navigator trapped in enemy territory has inspired a TV series from Jeffrey Nachmanoff, and Fox has handed over a pilot order. According to Deadline, the show will be “a high-octane military thriller about an American flight crew that is shot down while on a secret mission over the jungles of Latin America, their commanding officer aboard an aircraft carrier fighting to bring them home.” [/Film]

Warning: Game of Thrones spoilers are ahead.

The Direwolf’s Out of the Bag. The question of whether Jon Snow is dead or alive will plague us until Game of Thrones returns for Season 6. I mean, it has us obsessively watching the length of Kit Harington’s hair for crying out loud. But Harington might have made it easier for all of us. In an interview with the Belgian magazine HUMO, he said, “I can’t talk about that. Let’s just say that Game of Thrones will remain a part of my life for a while, I’ll probably be in my thirties when it’s over. One thing’s for sure: the day I’m no longer on Thrones is the day I’ll bury myself in movie projects (laughs).” Isn’t that interesting? [Nerdist]

Al and Peg. For those of you who still think of Ed O’Neill as Al Bundy, here’s an image of him and his Modern Family co-star Sofia Vergara as Al and Peg Bundy from Married with Children. The photo was taken for The Hollywood Reporter’s upcoming list of “Hollywood’s 100 Favorite TV Shows.” Members of the Modern Family cast have re-created several shows from the list. Back to Back. Sleepy Hollow’s Abbie Mills and Ichabod Crane are better together, and art released so far for the upcoming third emphasizes their partnership (not that kind of partnership, ewww). The latest poster shared by series co-creator Phillip Iscove (pictured above) is all kinds of lovely and ominous. [TVLine]

Coming Together. The Inhumans have become more popular since the season two finale of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. When the show returns on September 29, Phil Coulson and Daisy Johnson are searching the world for more Inhumans in order to recruit them, but they’re not the only ones on the hunt. Pictures from the episode show some intense confrontations, including one with Grant Ward. Check out more photos from the season three premiere at Comic Book Resources.
