TV-Cap: DAREDEVIL Will Have the Red Costume, Heat Wave Joins the ARROW and FLASH Spinoff, & More

It’s Wednesday or as I like to call it, the day after The Flash and the day of Arrow. There are enough comic book series on television right now that I could actually rename a few days of the week. That could get confusing though so I’m just going to skip ahead to today’s TV news. Today’s round-up includes some happy news about Daredevil’s costume in the upcoming Netflix series, some tidbits about the Lazarus Pit on Arrow, the unveiling date for a Mad Men statue, and more.

Daredevil

The Man in Red. Everything we’ve seen from Marvel’s Daredevil so far shows Matt Murdock wearing a black makeshift costume. A bandana is pulled over the top half of his face. It’s a low budget look. But now we know that his traditional red costume will indeed appear in the series. Marvel Chief Creative Officer Joe Quesada told Comics Continuum that it was an evolution and that “Matt starts out in a homemade outfit that develops slowly.” Showrunner Steven S. DeKnight added, “Eventually it morphs into the classic suit, because he wouldn’t be Daredevil without it. Getting there is part of the fun. … The solution is very exciting and makes complete sense.” Now I’m even more excited for April 10. [IGN]

It’s Getting Warm. The Arrow and Flash spinoff series has added a new villain to the roster. Mick Rory, a.k.a. Heat Wave, will turn up the temperature. Dominic Purcell played the character in The Flash, and he’ll reprise the role for the spinoff. [Nerdist]

Put a Statue on It. The series finale of Mad Men isn’t too far off, and the show is being celebrated with museum exhibits and a special dining week. It’s also getting a statue. The Mad Men statue will be located on 6th Avenue in New York, just outside the Time & Life Building. The building is the fictional home of Sterling Cooper & Partners. Designed by Pentagram, the statue will be unveiled on March 23 and will be on display through the summer. [Gothamist]

Supernatural - The Things They Carried

Khan Worm in the House. Though Dean is over searching for a cure for the Mark of Cain, Sam isn’t letting go. In tonight’s episode of Supernatural, “The Things They Carried”, Sam continues to search for answers but Dean decides to work on a case and runs into Cole. They soon learn that there’s a “Khan worm” infecting men and making them turn into killers. No, really. I’m looking forward to learning how they name the worm. See photos from the episode at TV Fanatic.

Leda vs. Castor. BBC America is really highlighting Project Castor in its promo materials for Season 3 of Orphan Black. New posters show the line-up for both Leda and Castor, and I can’t wait to learn more about all the personalities on Team Castor. The show returns on April 18. [Nerdist]

Peter Pan on Heroes. Heroes Reborn has added a cast member for its 13-episode event series. Robbie Kay–who recently played Peter Pan on Once Upon a Time–will play a new character. And yes, that’s all we know so far. Kay did a solid job making the villainous Peter Pan creepy and imposing on Once so I’m on board if he ends up being a big bad. [Deadline]

Supergirl on the WB Lot

Daily Planet

Daily Planet Redux? CBS’s Supergirl might be using the same building that Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman did for The Daily Planet. Producer Andrew Kreisberg tweeted a photo from the WB lot with the #Supergirl hashtag, and Andy Behbakht noticed the building in the photo looks similar to the Daily Planet set on Lois and Clark. It would be a nice nod, eh? Especially if we saw Dean Cain walk out its doors. [IGN]

Enter the Lazarus Pit. Arrow returns tonight and it comes with a side of supernatural elements. Oliver is considering Ra’s Al Ghul’s offer and while he decides on his next move, we’ll learn more about Ra’s–including the Lazarus Pit. Executive producer Marc Guggenheim told The Hollywood Reporter, “All year long we’ve been teasing what comic book fans know as the Lazarus Pit. We’ll learn a lot more about that in 316.” Guggenheim also pointed out they’ve introduced superpowers into the series this season, and now they’re bringing in the supernatural. It’s a natural fit. I imagine we won’t be seeing the full red costume until maybe second to last episode, and that is totally fine by me!
