This Week at Nerdist Theater at Meltdown!

It’s a packed and nerdy week at Nerdist Theater at Meltdown this week, full of comedy and G4 stars and comic books, so let’s get started!

Today, Friday, August 26th at 8pm, we have The Business!

A foursome of San Francisco comedians bring their popular weekly variety show to LA! You’ll see stand up, sketch, variety acts and other fun stuff! Scheduled to appear: Kyle Kinane, Rob Delaney, Matt Knudsen and more!
$8 in advance, $10 at the door

On Saturday, August 27th at 8pm, we have Captured Aural Phantasy Summer Camp!

Are you ready for the (end of) summer?! Captured Aural Phantasy Theater celebrates the season by interpreting nuggets of pop culture straight from the height of the Silver Age. Revel to live, dramatic readings of vintage comic book stories including one that follows that super-playa Superboy as he dates both Lana and Lois at summer camp. In between, enjoy comedic bits, music, campfire songs, art and special surprises pulled from mid-century culture including an audience participation version of a tiki classic. This show offers a special guest appearance by the super-powered surf band “The Noble Gasses.” Get there early!

Tickets are $10, and watch this fun promo by Christina Johns (@c_johns) to get you in the mood!:

On Sunday, August 28th at 5:30pm (NEW TIME FOR THIS WEEK) it’s Matt Mira’s Day Off

Matt Mira of the Nerdist Podcast needs a Day Off, so we decided to give him Sundays at Nerdist Theater. Come watch Mira and Paul Cibis host this comedy free-for-all. You’ll see brand new comics, comics you know and love trying out new material (Chris Hardwick and Kumail Nanjiani have both dropped in), and the magic that is live comedy.

After the mic, on Sunday, August 28th at 8pm, we give you An Evening with Brendon Walsh!

This comic, seen on Conan and John Oliver’s New York Standup Show on Comedy Central, is one of the best storytellers around. Come and watch him do a headlining set, with guests Duncan Trussell and Randy Liedtke!
$8 in advance, $10 at the door, and if you want a taste of what’s to come, watch this ad by Christina Johns (@c_johns):

Then on Monday, August 29th at 8pm, we’re hosting Attack of the Art Show!

G4 TV’s Attack of the Show returns to Meltdown Comics with Attack of the Art Show. Last time around, AOTS challenged its viewers to create a work of art based on Keyboard Cat, but this time, they’ve opened it up to any viral video out there. Come meet the hosts of AOTS and witness hundreds of paintings, sculptures, puppets, dioramas and other creations based on everything from Star Wars Kid to Dramatic Chipmunk, Chocolate Rain to Lemon Party.

On Tuesday, August 30th at 8pm, we have Nerdy Secrets!

Ever wanted to know what your favorite creative types go geek-tastic over but were too timid to ask? Sure you did, which is why host Mo Fathelbab and DC Pierson will take that burden off of your shoulders and ask those awesome questions in this chat show. Featured this month: Kumail Nanjiani (The Indoor Kids; star of Franklin & Bash), Matt Selman (Executive Producer/Writer of The Simpsons), Azita Ghanizada (Star of the new SyFy hit Alphas & the 1st Afghani-American lead of a TV show), and more!

$8 in advance, $10 day of show

Then after the show, on Tuesday, August 30th at 10:30pm, it’s The DC Reboot Party

DC is releasing its first reboot comic, Justice League #1, at midnight, so we’re going to celebrate! Come to Meltdown Comics for costume contests, live readings, a funeral for the old DC Universe, comedy, and of course, COMIC BOOKS! Get your hands on the DC Reboot first at Meltdown Comics!

On Wednesday, August 31st at 8:30pm, we have The Meltdown with Jonah and Kumail!

At this popular weekly standup show, Jonah Ray and Kumail Nanjiani welcome Natasha Leggero, Jay Larson, MC Mr Napkins, Jesse Case, and more!

And wrapping up the week on Thursday, September 1st at 8pm, it’s The Good, The Blair, and The Ugly!

Fandom Planet, the first syndicated all-Geek podcast/radio show comes to NerdMelt for an explosive live show! Join G4 superstars Blair Butler (Fresh Ink) and Blair Herter (X-Play) along with comic book and TV reporter Blair Marnell (CraveOnline) as they talk about the latest news and events in the comic book industry with some potential surprise guests, hosted by the powerhouse comedian duo, Tim Powers and Sax Carr!
