This Paper Millennium Falcon Has It Where It Counts

The Millennium Falcon has never looked like a hunk of junk to me. The Star Wars spaceship has gorgeous lines and special modifications, and she’s mostly reliable. Han Solo and Chewbacca have worked to make her speedy and efficient, and I bet they’d let Bernard Szukiel join their crew. Szukiel built a ridiculously detailed model of the Millennium Falcon. It seems to have every nook, cranny, and panel. The craziest part? The model is made from paper. Paper!

Millennium Falcon Papercraft

I’m not sure whether Szukiel wielded the Force or a magic wand to turn paper into this thing of beauty. He definitely has the patience of a Jedi–he spent four years working on his Millennium Falcon replica. That timeline fits given all the tiny pieces that had to be added. The papercraft model is 38 inches long so it’s not exactly miniature but not big either. It had to be a challenge to place the parts just so. And yes, the replica is pretty darn close to screen accurate. The design was based on reference photos gathered from the web.

And though the model is mostly paper, Szukiel incorporated other materials too. He used fiber optics and LEDs for light-up elements because of course it has to be more perfect. You can see the lights in the cockpit in the gallery below. Be sure to look at the full picture so you can admire all the controls and gadgets in the cockpit and see the mini pilots’s chairs. Han would be proud.
