The TARDIS Sound Wave as a Necklace

“You know the sound the TARDIS makes? That wheezing, groaning?” Of course you do. You don’t need Rose Tyler to explain it to you. If you’re a fan of Doctor Who, you recognize the sound of the TARDIS in half a second. Maybe you even think you sometimes hear it while you’re out running errands or taking a walk. No? Just me? Well, even if the sound of the TARDIS doesn’t actually follow you everywhere, you can keep it close with a TARDIS sound wave necklace.

Cameron of Etsy shop Chimeric Garnish has recorded the vworp vworp noises of the time traveling spaceship and turned the iconic sound into an image. The sound wave is laser cut and engraved on either acrylic or wooden plate necklace pendants (acrylic options pictured above and wood option pictured below). The visualization of the audio has an abstract look, and I especially appreciate the subtlety. The blue pendant might tip some fans off – especially if you’re at a convention – but otherwise, no one would know it’s a nerdy piece of jewelry.

If you’d like to make it more obvious though, Chimeric Garnish also offers the sound wave etched on TARDIS-shaped brooches. The 3 inch by 1.5 inch pins are available in blue or white acrylic, birch, or mahogany and would look great on a convention lanyard, a blazer or cardigan, or even attached to your bag.

The sound wave design is unique, and a necklace or pendant is an ideal gift for the Doctor Who fan who already has a stash of sonic screwdrivers and a fez. You can purchase the necklaces and brooches from Chimeric Garnish’s Etsy shop.
