The SUPERNATURAL Cast Talks Season 12’s Big Changes

As Supernatural eases into season 12, it holds onto its title as the the longest-running sci-fi series in American television history. Quite the accomplishment for the Winchester brothers, who have been on the hunt since way back in 2005.

After their epic Comic-Con panel, Nerdist talked with the cast about the seminal season that takes the journey back to the beginnings. Quick spoiler alert—if you haven’t finished up Season 11 do it now before you watch. (We’ll finish salting the windows and wait for you to finish.)

You good? Well then, let’s get on with it: because Mary Winchester’s return signals all things familial for the boys come season 12. Freshly appointed showrunners Robert Singer and Andrew Dabb talked to us about the importance of family and reconnecting with Mary, and Castiel’s return to his old ways and place within this extended family. This season is sure to bring up issues and consequences from years of Sam and Dean being on their own. Hm, maybe it’s time to introduce a spectral family therapist?

Or maybe Lucifer—who is returning as a rock god played by none other than Jessie’s Girl coveter, Rick Springfield—could fill that void? Gosh, what a messed-up nightmare that would be.

To find out more of the cast’s insights into Season 12, watch the video above. Carry on Wayward Sons, and enjoy your burrito.
