THE PUNISHER # 1 Continues Frank Castle’s War (Preview)

The Punisher‘s last ongoing series may have ended with Secret Wars, but Frank Castle’s war will never be over! Starting next month, Gotham Academy co-writer Becky Cloonan and veteran Punisher artist Steve Dillon are bringing Castle back in a new ongoing series for the Punisher!

It may be an “all-new, all-different Marvel Universe,” but it’s the same ol’ Punisher as he goes up against a new batch of bad guys who are almost assuredly going to be six feet under in the near future. At least under normal circumstances. But this time, Marvel is promising that Castle may have finally met his match.

The Punisher 1 Preview 3

You can see the rest of the preview in our gallery below. Here’s Marvel’s description of The Punisher # 1:

“A by-the-numbers drug bust is about to take Frank Castle by surprise – and he HATES surprises. There’s a new drug hitting the streets. One that has the ability to create unstable super soldiers. As the threads begin to pull loose, the man behind the drug’s startling connection to The Punisher is revealed. An old associate from Frank’s military days has resurfaced. But as he follows the trail of drugs and bodies deeper and deeper into the Northeast’s heart of darkness – has Frank Castle truly met his match?

Mobsters, villains and drug runners beware – Frank Castle is back…and he’s coming for you. Be there for the new beginning as Cloonan and Dillon take Frank Castle out of his comfort zone and to the edge of the world he thought he knew in The Punisher #1!”

The Punisher 1 Maleev Variant

Also in our gallery, we’ve got several additional images from The Punisher # 1, including covers by Declan Shalvey, Alex Maleev, Skottie Young. Tim Bradstreet, Chris Stevens, and Phil Noto. And in case you were wondering why Noto’s cover has Black Panther and the Wasp, it’s because it’s variant cover for Black Panther’s 50th anniversary.

The Punisher # 1 hits comic stores on Wednesday, May 4.
