The ODDWORLD Soundtrack is Being Pressed to Colored Vinyl

Every couple of months, a super epic video game property announces that they’re partnering with a vinyl production plant to release the game’s soundtrack for proper listening enjoyment. When that happens, we throw squeals excitedly, throw our hands up into the air, and listen to the exploding and sparking in our brains as the best of music and gaming combine forces. Not too long ago, those very head fireworks started going off again, because one thread-sewn alien is going to speak to us from a circle of wax pretty soon.

Black Screen Records and Cargo Records are putting out Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty, the official videogame soundtrack, on 180 gram vinyl. Better yet, a limited collector’s edition will be released on green vinyl to match your Mudokon pals. The whole ordeal is a celebration of Abe turning 18 this year. As an almost-legal adult (on Earth, at least), Abe gets to hear Michael Bross compose, mix, and master the soundtrack to be packaged with full-coloured gatefold sleeves of RuptureFarms art by Raymond Swanland. Plus, the original Abe’s Oddysee soundtrack, a two-sided A2 poster, and MP3 version of the soundtrack will also be included. Wait, actually, word is there’s another meat-packing box back there with a free steam code for Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty, too!

Abe first joined us in 1997 when his Playstation classic, Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee, came out with inventive levels, eerie enemies, and all the hilarious fart jokes we could ever want. Fast forward to 2014, Abe’s appeared in countless follow-ups, including the 2014 remake Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty, which included remarkably touched-up graphics.

Get your three-pronged hands on the pre-order details here and stay up to date on announcements regarding their release at their Facebook page. Word is RuptureFarms has pretty good internet connection after all.
