Every leader needs an advisor they can trust to look out for their best interests and hit them with the hard truths. That’s the case whether they are a super villain or the protector of the Pride Lands. Whether or not they will actually listen is an entirely different matter though, because even if you replace Scott Evil with one of the wisest characters from The Lion King you can’t get Dr. Evil to take his advice.
In this clip from our latest episode of Talkin’ Toons, host Rob Paulsen was joined by Khary Payton, the voice of Rafiki on Disney’s spin-off series The Lion Guard. They recreated the shushing scene from Austin Powers, when Dr. Evil’s son desperately tried to convince his father to simply let him shoot the super spy instead of putting him in an easily escapable situation. Rob filled in for Mike Myers’ maniacal mad genius as Arthur from The Tick, with Khary’s Rafiki taking over as his confused and exasperated son.
Imagine how hard Rafiki would have hit Simba on the head if he’d shushed him.
