VOLTRON’s Shiro Takes the Lead in this BUTCH CASSIDY AND THE SUNDANCE KID Crossover

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid is a true Hollywood classic. So if you’re going to recreate a scene from the movie you need someone who can defend their legacy. Someone who knows what it means to be part of a formidable team of their own. We searched the universe looking for someone up to the challenge of playing one half of the famous outlaws, and nobody fits that profile better than Shiro from Voltron: Legendary Defender.

Josh Keaton, who plays the Black Paladin on Netflix’s hit animated series (and our second guest from the show after Kimberly Brooks stopped by), was the latest to join host Rob Paulsen on our Alpha series Talkin’ Toons. The two read the classic scene in which Paul Newman and Robert Redford’s infamous bank-robbing duo argue over making a dangerous leap. Fittingly for Shiro, Keaton took over for Newman’s bossy Butch, and Rob filled in for Redford’s Sundance Kid as one of his favorite kid characters, Carl Wheezer from Jimmy Neutron.

We can’t see Shiro turning to a life of crime, but he still makes for a great leader. We’re not sure Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid would be quite the classic it is, though, if Carl were the Sundance Kid.

Remember: if you want to see the rest of Rob’s interview with Josh Keaton, you can only catch full episodes of Talkin’ Toons at our online Alpha community. It’s only one of our many great shows there, and your first 30 days are free when you sign up for the first time. So you don’t have to resort to robbing banks in Bolivia to be a member.

What other famous team would Shiro be able to fill in on? Be a pal-adin and tell us your best ideas in the comments section below.
