The KINGS OF CON Talk Convention Survival Tips and Their Surreal Reality

The new series Kings of Con isn’t a documentary or a reality show — but it does steal a heck of a lot from co-creators’ Rob Benedict and Richard Speight Jr’s real lives as mainstays on the convention circuit. Given their time on one of the biggest shows the fandom world has ever seen, Supernatural—Speight as the recurring character archangel Gabriel and Benedict as a prophet who may or may not be the notorious g.o.d.—it’s no wonder they spend between 12 and 14 weekends a year traveling from con to con, taking pictures with fans and having some truly outrageous experiences and encounters.

And they took it to the meta-ist level earlier this month when they brought Kings of Con to the Nerdist Conival at San Diego Comic-Con (♬ so many cons! ♬). With our own con hero Dan Casey at the helm, the interview was a real delight. And you can watch the whole thing up there right now! Magic is real, folks—and yes there is a difference between this and Con Man (learn how when you watch).

Are you looking forward to Kings of Con? Watch the trailer below and let us know your thoughts in the comments.
