Syfy’s latest science fiction series set in space, Dark Matter, begins with a mystery. In the first episode we discover an amnesic crew aboard a dying vessel. They head down to the nearest planet only to find the population fearing for their lives upon their arrival: apparently, the crew is made up of some of the deadliest killers in the galaxy.

Dark Matter is a fun, mysterious series that pulls together elements from giant influences like Firefly and Blade Runner. So of course we were psyched when we got to discuss the show with the cast at this year’s Conival! We chatted about everything from Star Trek to space zombies, handling SDCC, to space ballads (Melissa O’Neil happens to be the youngest female winner of Canadian Idol).

Dark Matter airs Fridays at 10/9c on Syfy.
