The Joker’s on You: GOTHAM Season 2 Confirms its Crazy Clown’s Identity

Welp, it looks like the Fox iteration of the Joker has been confirmed by the actor who’s portraying him. Fans of the network’s origin story series about the big baddies (and goodies) of Gotham city have long believed that a character named Jerome that we met earlier in season one of Gotham was the lad who would grow up to be the sadistic supervillain.

But now, thanks to the magic of Instagram — because I mean, hello, this is 2015 — all that seems to have been confirmed. Actor Cameron Monaghan sent out a photo of himself looking exactly like the crazy clown criminal, all but solidifying his character-to-be in the show’s overarching story.

And, apparently, the show’s first part of the second season is going to be ♫♬ all about that Joke, ’bout that Joke (no ser’ous). ♫♬ (Also sorry for that.)

It’s no surprise that the Joker’s a big part of the upcoming season. Back in May, Gotham‘s showrunner Bruno Heller told The Hollywood Reporter that, “We’re going to find out how the hell Jerome, the proto-Joker we met earlier in this season, connects with the Joker as people known him. That’s the big focus of the beginning of the second season. We’re going to tell the story of how the Joker came to be.”

Between this as Suicide Squad, we’ve got a heck of a lot of jokin’ around in our future.

What do you think of the choice of Monaghan for the Joker? Let us hear it in the comments.
