[Update] The First Trailer For TRANSFORMERS: AGE OF EXTINCTION Has Arrived!

After taking the last couple years off from the franchise to go hang with some Florida body-builders, Michael Bay has returned with the latest installment in his mega-hit robot franchise, Transformers: Age of Extinction. During the Super Bowl, we got our first tiny taste of what’s to come for the latest sequel, but today, we get a much larger slice of the dinobot filled pie:

“The age of the transformers is over.”

What’s great about this is it seems Bay has learned a lot from his time off. While there’s surely destruction, it doesn’t appear to be on the massive scale of the previous three films. This time, things appear to be much more character based. What is the world like now that the war between the autobots and decepticons is over? On top of that, it seems like all the amazing talent is really bringing some serious A game to this installment of the franchise.

In addition to that sweet goodness, Paramount has also offered up some brand new character posters featuring stars Mark Wahlberg, Jack Reynor and Nicola Peltz as their respective characters Cade Yeager, Shane, and Tessa, as well as a brand new character poster for Optimus Prime:

Optimus in hiding. Conspiracies. Dinobots. Forest battles. This. Is. Going. To. Be. Epic.

Transformers: Age of Extinction hits theaters on June 27th.

UPDATE:

A few observant audience members noticed this phone number on the “Remember Chicago” sign, a reference to the climax of the previous film. If you call that number, you are greeted to a creepy voice message informing citizens to stay alert for any suspicious transformer activity, and are then directed to TransformersAreDangerous.com, where you can download a kick-ass new Optimus Prime poster.

  1. I’m willing to give this movie a fair shake as a stand alone product, and not let the previous films dictate what I should anticipate. That might be giving the franchise a little more credit than it deserves, but everything I’ve seen seems to suggest a slightly different tone for this Transformer movie, so I’m cautiously optimistic for a fun movie.
