The Cranberries’ Dolores O’Riordan Has Passed Away at 46

According to a report from the BBC, the Cranberries’ lead singer Dolores O’Riordan has died at 46. The official Cranberries Facebook page confirmed the news, stating the Irish artist’s death was sudden and that friends and family are requesting privacy as more information emerges. See the entire message below.

O’Riordan is best known for leading the Cranberries to international acclaim in the early nineties with her lithe, yet potent, gymnastic vocal performances. With classics like “Linger” and “Dreams,” the group’s debut album, 1993’s Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can’t We? began a run of excellent, platinum-achieving records that lasted until the end of that decade. Most recently, the group reformed after a mid-2000’s hiatus to release 2012′ Roses and 2017’s Something Else. When O’Riordan’s death was announced the morning of January 15, she was in London for a “short recording session.”

Many have taken to social media to share condolences and remember O’Riordan for her artistic achievements and genuine kindness.

O’Riordan’s legacy is monumental, and though she will be missed dearly by friends, family, and fans; her artistic contributions will continue to inspire many beyond just the confines of music. Many tributes and eulogies will pour in for her in the coming days and weeks, but her own words will always radiate most elegantly:
