THE BIG LEBOWSKI Meets THE POWERPUFF GIRLS in Our Latest Pop Culture Mash-up

When it comes to the things in life that bring you joy and laughter, well, that’s just like, your opinion, man. But we’re fairly confident you’re going to bubble over with excitement after hearing The Big Lebowski performed by one of The Powerpuff Girls.

In the latest clip from our Alpha series, Talkin’ Toons, host Rob Paulsen was joined by fellow voice actor Tara Strong, where the two recreated the first meeting of the Lebowskis (Lebowskii?) from the Coen Brothers’ classic film. She read the role of the Dude as her diminutive but fierce character Bubbles from The Powerpuff Girls, and Rob filled in for the Big Lebowski as his character Mark Chang from The Fairly Oddparents–a fitting choice since Strong was the voice of Timmy on the show.

Like that rug really tied the Dude’s room together, Bubbles was the emotional glue that really tied this Lebowski/Powerpuff Girls crossover together.

Truth be told, the combination of The Big Lebowski and The Powerpuff Girls may seem like a strange one, but it’s not the first time these two properties have met. One episode of the Cartoon Network series dropped a pretty serious reference to a memorable scene in the Coen Brothers’ 1998 comedy–refresh your memory below.

If you’re still not a member of our interactive community Alpha, this clip is better evidence than a severed toe that you’re missing out on all our great shows there. But it won’t cost you a million dollars or even a suitcase filled with underwear to join, because you can sign up for a free one-month trial right now. And like, why wouldn’t you, man? Where else are you going to hear one of the greatest kindergarten superheroes as the Dude?

Which characters from The Big Lebowski would you have had Blossom and Buttercup read for? Talk toons and the Coen Brothers with us in the comments below.
