Bloodshot Reborn #15

One of the early 1990s’ most popular antiheroes, created by Jim Lee during the height of the Image explosion, is getting the big screen treatment. Dave Wilson, special effects wiz and Deadpool director Tim Miller’s partner at Blur Studios, will make his feature film directorial debut with Bloodshot. The news was announced by accident at this weekend’s Emerald City Comicon by Arrival screenwriter and comic-book writer Eric Heisserer and Valiant Entertainment CEO Dinesh Shamdasani. Now if we could just travel back in time and get early ’90s Jean-Claude Van Damme to play the title character!

The Underwater Welder

La La Land‘s Ryan Gosling just can’t stop playing in the genre sandbox. After directing the fantasy thriller Lost River, Gosling is producing The Underwater Welder, based on the acclaimed graphic novel by Sweet Tooth writer Jeff Lemire. The book “details a man in the dangerous profession of underwater welding, who has a supernatural encounter at the bottom of the sea.” No actors announced yet. Hey, maybe the Gos will take the deep dive on screen!

Mission: Impossible 6

Vanessa Kirby

Okay, I gotta admit I have mixed feelings about the following news. Reportedly, Mission: Impossible 6 has found a female lead in The Crown‘s Vanessa Kirby. To this I say: Great, hurrah! But since M:I5‘s Rebecca Ferguson was  the best thing to ever happen to this franchise, and since Ferguson was already announced to star in M:I6, I’m a little puzzled. If the film has two female leads, well, more power to it. But so help me, if they pull some kind of Bourne stunt and kill off Ferguson’s character in the first scene, my wrath will be as merciless and endless as Ethan Hunt’s.
