The 7 Best Memes of 2015

Each year, the internet tries its hardest to be bigger and better. In terms of memes, 2015 surpassed all expectations. Thanks to sites like Tumblr, Reddit, and Imgur, the internet was on top of its viral game. From Drake’s dazzling dance moves to the 24 hours we all freaked out about what color a simple dress was, the past year was full of all types of memes. Music, movies, fashion, politics… nothing was safe from the Facebook and Twitter trending topics. Social media ruled everything around us, it’s true. We can’t deny it any longer.

But before we dive into our best-of list, let’s take a moment to acknowledge the few that didn’t make the cut. We’re looking at you, llamas on the run and “Miley, What’s Good,” among others. These viral sensations made their way through the internet rounds at a speedy pace. No one could look at Twitter without seeing at least one mention of “Netflix and chill,” it seems. While these were certainly memorable, they didn’t quite make our top 7. Look, we all can’t be winners here. There always needs to be a few exceptional honorable mentions, right?

There were so many glorious creations that made their way around the web this year, it was hard to widdle down the list to merely a few. In the gallery below are the memes that made us laugh the hardest and had us sharing and reblogging over and over again. Congratulations to those who added to these wondrous viral creations. We can’t wait to see what 2016 holds in store for the internets.
