THE 100 Recap: [SPOILER] Takes Over Arkadia in ‘Fallen’

Heads up, The 100 fans: this recap contains spoilers for Thursday night’s new episode. Don’t read if you’ve yet to watch “Fallen” and don’t want to be spoiled! This is your warning!

It’s one step forward and two steps back on The 100. Tonight’s episode, “Fallen,” saw the downfall of Pike (finally!), just as ALIE managed to completely take over Arkadia with her City of Light keys (no!). At least Octavia finally got some peace of mind? Barely? Let’s recap all the action, shall we?

If Octavia couldn’t immediately take her anger out on Pike for what he did to Lincoln, the next best thing was obviously beating the crap out of her brother when the fugitives got back to the cave where he was tied up. Once she got him good and bloody, she screamed, “You’re dead to me,” and the look on her face—and grief in her voice—made it clear she wasn’t exaggerating. The Blake siblings have been irreparably damaged. Thanks a lot, Pike!

At least the rebellion to kill Pike had grown even more. After Hannah tipped Monty off to the fact that Pike knew he was a traitor, it led to a heartbreaking goodbye where they had to act as if they weren’t saying goodbye so he could slip away unnoticed and regroup with the rest of the rebellion. He radioed Bellamy with their old code, and Kane told him to head to the drop ship to intercept him in case it was a trap. Octavia decided to bring Bellamy chained and gagged in exchange for Monty (if it ended up being a trap set by Pike), and the three of them suited up and rolled out.

And in today’s non-news, Octavia was smart, because turns out Pike did follow Monty and had Kane, Octavia, and Bellamy surrounded by sharpshooters and Monty at gunpoint. Bellamy saved Octavia from a bullet to the leg (after she had him at knifepoint, yikes!) but betrayed everyone else by tipping Pike off to the location of the others in the cave. He promised to lead Pike there, even though it was close to the Grounder blockade line. But twist! Bellamy actually betrayed Pike when they arrived at the blockade line and held him at gunpoint. Having Octavia translate to the Grounders stationed there, he handed Pike over in exchange for lifting the blockade.

The Grounders killed all of Pike’s loyalists that were armed with him and took him hostage, despite Octavia trying to kill him herself out of revenge for Lincoln. Kane convinced her to let the Grounders get their justice after they couldn’t with Finn, and then he went with the Grounders to Polis, while Octavia, Monty, and Bellamy were told to return to Arkadia to tell everyone what happened. Monty couldn’t help but feel betrayed by his mother, given that it turned out she was the one who ratted him out to Pike so they could follow him to Kane. Bellamy told him that since they’re family, they’ll work things out. It’s not hard to imagine Bellamy is hoping that same thought will apply to him and Octavia, but from the look on her face when she overheard Bellamy saying that, she doesn’t agree. Bellamy’s actions did directly lead to Lincoln’s death so… yeah, we’re not sensing forgiveness any time soon.

Over in Polis, Murphy decided the smartest move for someone in his position — held prisoner, surrounded by Grounder enemies with no Skaikru ally in sight — was to make himself needed by the new Commander. Since Ontari doesn’t have the Flame, she needed to lie to keep the Grounders in the dark about that fact, and who better to help her lie and cheat and manipulate than the ultimate liar, cheater, and manipulator: Murphy!

In Roan’s absence (since he was off hunting down Clarke for the Flame), Murphy slithered his way into Ontari’s brain, becoming her fake Flamekeeper to her fake Commander. They came up with a way to lie their way through her ascension, but one ambassador wouldn’t accept Ontari as Commander until she recited the lineage of all the past Commanders, and since she couldn’t know all the names without the Flame, she gouged his eyes out with her thumbs. That’s one way to stop an argument!

Back in Ontari’s room, Murphy was pissed to find out that she still wanted him chained up even after all the help he gave her. She told him he hadn’t proven his loyalty yet to her. But she still got naked in front of him, and despite him saying there’s someone else (Emori!), she still put the moves on him. And being the kind of guy he is, he relented with a smirk. “Oh, the things I do to survive.” That’s literally Murphy’s motto. This couple is going to be downright evil.

Back in Arkadia, Raven was doing her best to drown ALIE out of her thoughts by giving herself sensory overload. ALIE sensed Raven was much stronger than any of the other City of Light initiates, and that she might actually be able to get ALIE out of her head, making her a threat. Raven enlisted Jasper and Abby to help because she had an idea that freaked ALIE out: By using the wristbands the 100 were sent down to Earth wearing, Raven could reverse-engineer them in order to send a pulse through Raven’s body to her brain and fry the chip.

Jaha convinced ALIE to give Raven back her memories of pain to convince her to come back to the City of Light and give up on her idea, so she did. Having to suffer through all the pain she went through on the ground over and over was too much for her, and so she submitted completely to ALIE. Watching in horror as she lost Raven to the City of Light yet again, Abby was caught off guard by Jackson—who, it turned out, was working for ALIE the whole time—and sedated. ALIE’s reach is truly terrifying.

Meanwhile, Jaha and the rest of the City of Light converts followed Jasper to find and destroy all the leftover wristbands he found, the only things they currently know of that can stop ALIE (but wait: anyone else remember that Grounder Niylah who was wearing one at the trading post in the premiere …?). After Abby woke up, tied to a chair, she found herself confronted by Jackson, Raven, and Jaha, all standing over her. As it turned out, ALIE had completely taken over Raven’s body and mind, and tried to manipulate Abby into eating a City of Light key by slicing open Raven’s wrists and having her bleed out in front of Abby. The only way to save Raven was by eating a chip …and so she did. Abby, no!

Jasper was horrified to later see Abby giving out City of Light keys like they were candy to the rest of the people in Arkadia, and when he found Raven in the hospital with slit wrists, he realized he was alone in his fight. He sedated her and took her with him, and ALIE sent the rest of her minions to get her back. But Jasper stole a jeep and escaped Arkadia …only to run right into Clarke outside the gates! She told him she needed Lincoln to take her to Luna by the sea, but when he told her Lincoln was dead, she was horrified. So they hopped into the jeep and they took off together with the rest of Arkadia watching them go.

But now that Arkadia has officially fallen, ALIE is ready to move on to phase two. That can’t be good. Not good at all. The image alone just gives me chills.

What did you think of tonight’s heartbreaking, game-changing episode? Are you as happy as I am that Pike is finally out of power? How frustrating was it that as soon as he was captured, Arkadia fell to ALIE? Tweet me your thoughts at @SydneyBucksbaum!
