Watch THE PRINCESS BRIDE Scene Recreated by Rob Paulsen and CRITICAL ROLE’s Taliesin Jaffe

Ask 50 different fans of The Princess Bride which scene is their favorite and you might get 50 different answers. And they’d all be wrong. That’s because the only correct answer is “all of them.” But despite having to make an impossible choice, we still think we rolled a D20 having one of the stars of Critical Role help recreate the poisoned wine scene on the latest Talkin’ Toons.

In this clip from the latest episode of our Alpha series, host Rob Paulsen was joined by fellow voice actor Taliesin Jaffe, who you know from Geek and Sundry‘s long-running, live-streamed game of Dungeons & Dragons, the fantastic Critical Role. (You also know Taliesin from about a million video games you own.) The two recreated the “Battle of Wits” scene from The Princess Bride, with Jaffe sounding–dare we say–even more regal and confident as Dread Pirate Roberts than Cary Elwes did, and Rob sounding smug and ridiculous as the soon-to-be-dead Vizzini.

With that voice Taliesin could have made even Vizzini sound dignified, but that would have been a very different scene. We made the right choice, even if we didn’t have a foolproof immunity to rely on.

But remember this is just a clip, and if you want to see entire episodes you need to be a member of our interactive online Alpha community. And as if Talkin’ Toons and all of the other great shows we have there weren’t enough, we’ll even give you your first 30 days free. So sign up now.

That way you can tell us which scene from The Princess Bride you want us to recreate next time (even if we already know the answer is “all of them.”)

But you can still tell us which one you would have went with by taking a roll in our comments below.
