SAMURAI JACK Fills in for Joe Pesci in This Funny (Like a Clown) GOODFELLAS Crossover

It’s impossible to imagine anyone replacing Joe Pesci in Goodfellas, especially in the movie’s most iconic moment: his classic “Funny how?” scene. That alone made him deserving of his Oscar win for Best Supporting Actor. But it turns out there is at least one other person out there both intense and funny enough to have filled his shoes: Samurai Jack.

In this clip from the latest episode of our Alpha series Talkin’ Toons, host Rob Paulsen was joined by fellow voice actor and Samurai Jack himself, Phil LaMarr. Instead of sending Jack to a dystopian future, we sent him back to Martin Scorsese’s best movie (don’t @ me) to fill in for someone far more terrifying than Aku, Pesci’s Tommy DeVito. But of course that scene only worked as well as it did because Pesci had someone great to play off of in lieu of Ray Liotta’s frightened, stammering Henry Hill. Who better to fill in for that than… Gilbert Gottfried?

Hey, if you could do a spot-on Gilbert Gottfried impression as well as Rob Paulsen does, you’d be looking for any excuse to bust it out too. And if Henry Hill really did sound like that it would make way more sense why Tommy DeVito was messing around with him in the first place.
