SXSW: Legendary Releases Fan Reactions to GODZILLA Sneak Peek

Last week at SXSW, Godzilla enthusiasts got a chance to watch the original 1954 Godzilla: King of the Monsters in 35mm at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema. The screening was organized in celebration of the film’s 6oth anniversary, and was moderated by none other than Nerdist News‘ own Jessica Chobot. Even more exciting than the black and white carnage of the original Godzilla was a sneak peak of this summer’s Godzilla reboot, which hits theaters on May 16. The clip was introduced by the film’s director, Gareth Edwards, who had to be flattered to see the audience stand in applause once the screening was complete:

Below is the trailer for the 1954 Godzilla for all you nostalgia junkies out there.

If you’re into action figures you really need to check out the first looks at the new Godzilla figure. Considering this is Godzilla we’re talking about, I suppose it figures that even the toy itself is super-sized. The beast is 24″ high and 43″ long – perfect dimensions for terrorizing Playmobil and/or LEGO cities.

In case you missed it, be sure to check out the newly released international Godzilla trailer which features some killer footage not seen in the original trailer. Which trailer do you think kicks more ass? Tell us below.
