First Trailer for the SUSPIRIA Remake Is So Freakin’ Creepy

The creepy first teaser for the upcoming remake of the classic ’70s Italian horror film Suspiria, about a famous dance studio that harbors some very dark and disturbing secrets, alleviated many fans’ fears that the movie wouldn’t live up to the beloved original. But if the first look was all about making sure moviegoers knew the film was in good, terrifying hands, the newest trailer will have them ready to bust a groove to theaters, because it amps up the tension and the suspense by bringing more nightmares to the dance floor.

This latest trailer for the film, which stars Dakota Johnson as Susie Bannion, “an ambitious young dancer” who travels to Germany to join a famous troupe led by Tilda Swinton‘s Madame Blanc, offers a deeper, even more unsettling look at the evil that surrounds the group.  They aren’t the only ones bewitched by what’s happening there, because the darkness also ensnares a grieving psychotherapist played by Lutz Ebersdorf.

“Some will succumb to the nightmare. Others will finally wake up.”

If this trailer, with its ’70s vibe, long creepy stares, and strange dancing didn’t have any music it would still have made our skin crawl, but the soundtrack written by Radiohead’s Thom Yorke puts it entirely over the top.

This is going to scare the crap out of us, huh? And to think, we were worried it wouldn’t be as good as the original.

Directed by Call Me by Your Name‘s Luca Guadagnino and also starring Mia Goth, Chloë Grace Moretz, and Jessica Harper (who was also in the original), will open in theaters one week early in New York and Los Angeles on October 26, with a nationwide release a week later on November 2nd.
