SUPERNATURAL Spin-Off, WAYWARD SISTERS Confirms Four More Cast Members

Last month, the CW announced that they would be introducing a backdoor pilot into Supernatural’s thirteenth season for their new spin-off, Wayward Sisters. Fans have been asking for a spin-off focusing on Sheriff Jody Mills (Kim Rhodes) for quite a while now, and the June announcement had the fandom in a tizzy. However, at the time of the announcement, only Rhodes was confirmed for the spin-off. Although the fandom was pretty certain Jody’s bestie, Sheriff Donna (Briana Buckmaster), and Jody’s adopted daughters Claire Novak (Kathryn Newton) and Alex Jones (Katherine Ramdeen) would be cast, it wasn’t official. Still, the cast gave us a lot of hope that the original gang would be in for the Wayward Sisters fun.

Finally, it’s all official. Deadline has reported that Buckmaster, Newton, and Ramdeen have been indeed been cast, and are all going to be saving people and hunting things alongside Kim Rhodes. Even though the fandom was pretty certain Donna, Claire, and Alex would be up for the Wayward party, it’s nice to make it official. It just wouldn’t feel the same without all of them.

However, it’s not just old friends that we’ll be seeing in the spin-off. The Wayward gang will also be welcoming Patience Turner (Clark Backo). Who is this mysterious new character? Well, according to Deadline, Patience is a young woman whose life gets turned on its head when she discovers she’s a very powerful psychic, an ability she inherited from her grandmother. Patience ends up running from the evil trying to take her and her power, and seeks refuge with Jody. While that sounds like an awesome story in and of itself, the identity of Patience’s grandmother makes everything a bit more interesting. If you think ALL the way back to season one, you might recall Patience’s grandma, Missouri Moseley (Loretta Devine).

Missouri is the psychic who was a longtime friend of John Winchester, and helped Sam and Dean back in the first season when their childhood home in Kansas was haunted. Even more exciting, Devine will be coming back for an episode of Supernatural. My money’s on the backdoor pilot episode, but the exact date of her appearance hasn’t been confirmed. We have a while until Supernatural’s October premiere, but it sounds like the series is setting up Wayward Daughters to be a huge success.
