When I close my eyes I can still hear the Super Mario Bros. theme song playing in my head. I played that game over and over to the point where hearing the coin sound effect makes me think money is about to fall from the sky. The legacy of Nintendoâs classic game lives on and still inspires fans to get creative to this day.
Food blogger Yuki of Yukiâs Kitchen has made some extraordinary meals like dishes inspired by Hayao Miyazaki and a Star Wars Jabba the Hutt pot pie, and while theyâre all stunning to look at, they also happen to be made of healthy ingredients. Yuki maintains a vegan diet and so all her creations are also made up of vegan ingredients, achieving bright colors and textures through the use of spices and vegetables.
Her Mario salad is made of quinoa and flax seeds, super grains that are high in protein. Once cooked, a little bit of tomato puree adds the colors for Marioâs signature red hat, and his face is created out of tofu. Seaweed, miso and curry all make for a flavorful and colorful meal.
Once all is arranged itâs the little details that makes this meal level up. Goombas are made from even more tofu and Power Stars are simply just sliced Starfruit. Such a simple idea that makes this character meal easy to replicate.
