STRANGER THINGS Season 2 Cast Photo and More TV News

Welcome back from the weekend, everyone. Mondays aren’t most people’s favorite day, but we can talk about television news for a bit and distract ourselves. Today’s TV-Cap has the first photo from season two of Stranger Things, info on season three of Black Mirror, a tidbit about Nicolas Cage almost appearing in American Gods, and more.

Upside Down Residents. Netflix’s Stranger Things has given us a look at the first official cast photo for season two, and they’ve put a twist on it by flipping the image in the announcement tweet. Get it? Because of the Upside Down. If you don’t feel like trying to read the backwards text, here’s the line-up: Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Joe Keery, Millie Bobby Brown, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink, and Dacre Montgomery. Winona Ryder and David Harbour are also set to return. [Nerdist]

First Time. If you’re a Dave Chappelle fan, mark your calendars for November 12. The actor/comedian will host Saturday Night Live for the first time on that date. [The Hollywood Reporter]

Bow and Arrow on Netflix. Jeremy Renner recently told IGN he’d be up for doing a Netflix series focused on Hawkeye; it’s not the first time the actor has expressed interest. But does a Hawkeye show need to exist? Donnie thinks so and tell us why it should happen. Read his thoughts here.

Go Behind the Black Mirror. With shiny new episodes that have been out on Netflix for a couple of weeks now, the Black Mirror cast and creators can dish about the experience of making the third season. Learn what they had to say in the first video, and then get thoughts on the San Junipero fan theory in the second video. [Nerdist]

Another Superman. Supergirl will apparently be introducing Cyborg Superman in season two; the character is teased in the description for the upcoming episode “The Darkest Place.” But who will he be? In the comic books, Cyborg Superman was Hank Henshaw. Blair shares some information about the comic book character and some speculation about who will portray him in the series. Read the details here at Nerdist.

Close Call. The casting for Starz’s American Gods has been spot on–especially Ian McShane as Mr. Wednesday. But imagine a world with Nicolas Cage as the important character. Cage told the Los Angeles Times, “I’ve been invited many times to go on a show, one of which was on Neil Gaiman’s American Gods to play Mr. Wednesday, which was a great part, beautifully written. And I said no.” I’m usually entertained by Cage in films and think he could have been interesting as Wednesday, but even though I’ve only seen McShane in a couple of pictures from the Starz series, I can’t imagine anyone else in the role. Simpsons Forever! Can you guess how long The Simpsons has been on the air? Go ahead and pick a number. You can bump that number up because Fox has renewed the animated comedy for two more seasons, that’s seasons 29 and 30. The renewal will take the show to 669 episodes, a scripted primetime record. Rattle This. Erik LaRay Harvey’s Diamondback swooped into Luke Cage and caused a large number of problems for the Marvel hero. With the premiere season in the rear view mirror, Kristy sat down with Harvey to discuss the ins and outs of Diamondback. Watch the interview in the above video–yes, there are Luke Cage spoilers. Sing On. Do you love singing along to the tunes from Crazy Ex-Girlfriend? Then get excited to arrange your own versions because The CW has released sheet music for 15 original songs from the show. You can download them for free right this way. [TVLine]

So Much TV. Okay, as always, TV happened over the weekend. Get caught up on all the details of Westworld, The Walking Dead, Star Wars Rebels, and Dirk Gently with our recaps.

Are you relieved Nicolas Cage turned down that American Gods part? Tell me in the comments.
