Steve Martin and Edie Brickell Made a Beautiful Music Video in an Elevator

As if we didn’t already idolize Steve Martin, his work as a folk banjoist consistently puts him a cut above any other comedian.

Since 2013 he and Edie Brickell have joined collective musical forces and given the world something we don’t often realize we need–feel good folksy banjo music.

For example, the video for their recently released track, “Won’t Go Back”, is incredibly sweet and endearing. Martin’s masterful banjo picking and Brickell’s vocals tell the story of adventure and the decision to never backtrack on that journey. Taking place in an elevator, the video features the two joined by people from various walks of life who join in on the song and it’s all a bit corny in the best possible way. The feel-good bluegrass tune is one of twelve on the duo’s latest album So Familiar, which released on October 30, 2015.

If you’re anything like us, then this bit of americana isn’t enough and you have to seek out more Steve Martin goodness. Look no further than his 2014 performances for PBS where he played a myriad of songs from his discography including some from his Grammy winning (for Bluegrass of course) album The Crow: New Songs for the 5-String Banjo.

Was just about to make an earnest “Finger-pickin good” pun but decided against it out of respect for the music and because lame attempts of humor should never be allowed in an article about a comedy legend. Anyway, what do you think of “Won’t Go Back”? Let us know in the comments below!
