STAR WARS FORCES OF DESTINY Finally Has a Premiere Date

Have you ever wanted to see Leia face a wampa? That’s just one of the scenes in a new sneak peek of Star Wars Forces of Destiny that’s making me feel like I could take on the whole Empire myself. Disney and Lucasfilm dropped the tease Tuesday morning to accompany the announcement of the premiere date for the animated micro-series. Forces of Destiny will debut on Disney’s YouTube channel on Monday, July 3. A new short will drop each day at 10:00a.m. PT until July 9, which is when the series will arrive on the Disney Channel.

You can catch glimpses of Leia, Ahsoka Tano, Jyn Erso, Sabine Wren, Padmé Amidala, Luke Skywalker, and more in that tease. The series by writer Jennifer Muro is all about the little, everyday heroic moments. It’s seeing these larger than life characters in two to three minute vignettes. And as you’ve probably noticed, it’s heavily focused on female characters—which I’m exceptionally excited about—but also features some of the heroes we know. Matt Lanter, the voice of Anakin Skywalker, recorded with Ashley Eckstein, a.k.a. Ahsoka, for Forces of Destiny.

The animated shorts are part of a bigger initiative. Toys, books, apparel, and more Forces of Destiny merchandise will hit shelves in August—these releases are set to include the adventure figures from Hasbro that were revealed around Star Wars Celebration Orlando.
