STAR WARS REBELS Season 4 Will Be Its Last, and Here’s the Trailer

It’s official: the word coming out of Star Wars Rebels‘ panel at Celebration is that this will be the last season for the Star Wars series. Let’s take a sneak peek, shall we?

You can see Saw Gerrera and U-Wings, as the narrative inevitably segues into Rogue One. In addition, Warwick Davis will be voicing a character named Rukh, whom some of you old-school Expanded Universe fans might remember as Thrawn’s bodyguard…and ultimate assassin, which suggests why Thrawn may no longer be around by original trilogy time in the new continuity. Expect Mon Mothma to reappear as well.

The trailer teases a whole lot of action, but its narrative that the whole story is about “a boy and a girl” is interesting. Does that hint that Sabine and Ezra end up together? Dave Filoni noted that while this season may be the end of Rebels, it’s not necessarily the end of the characters, and indeed, Sabine and Ahsoka are already announced for the heroine-centric Forces of Destiny. It’s no stretch to think Hera could appear there as well, although that’s no guarantor of her (or anyone’s) ultimate fate, since Jyn Erso is part of that too. Well, we do know that Hera and Chopper at least make it to Rogue One.

Will we see the Rebels characters in live-action beyond that blink-and-you-missed-it Chopper cameo? It sounds like anything’s possible, but it would seem unlikely they’ll be in the Han Solo movie, given how long our favorite smuggler avoided the Rebellion. We’ll have to wait and see.
