Figrin D’an and the Modal Nodes Reunited at Coachella

Anybody who’s ever been to Mos Eisley Cantina, that particular hive of scum and villainy on the planet Tatooine, knows of the musical stylings of Figrin D’an and the Modal Nodes. Their rendition of that one Cantina Band song and that other Cantina Band song have been played on terrestrial and extraterrestrial radio for decades, but few are aware of the rocky road the bad took after their meteoric rise to the top. Until now. A Behind the Music special takes us inside the tumultuous breakup and hopeful reunion of a band beloved by Bith and Sullustan alike.

The other members of the Modal Nodes were less than pleased with Figrin D’an’s decision to be the name—and face—of the group. It did not sit well, especially since his original idea for a band name was Jizzhammer. The band soon broke up, and Figrin went off on his own doing solo Kloo Horn music, but he was never able to capture the success he had back in his Tatooine days.

But fortune smiled on fans of the group when earlier this year, the band reunited before massive adoring crowds at the Coachella music festival in California. Despite a few brawls between patrons, one of which resulting in a crippling lightsaber wound, getting the band back together has proved a major success. You should count yourselves lucky to get to see this rare concert footage of Figrin D’an and the Modal Nodes’ reunion show.
