6 BATMAN Stories Perfect for Ben Affleck’s Movie

While Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice maaaaaybe wasn’t everybody’s cup of superhero tea, it has led to the realization that Ben Affleck and DC Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns will have complete control over the upcoming solo Batfleck movie. That’s good news, and even gooder (?) news is that the movie will be an explosion of villains, with tons and tons of Batman‘s Rogue’s Gallery popping up—possibly even including people from Batman’s past. But which Batman story could possibly best fit this idea for a Batman movie?

On today’s Nerdist News, Jessica Chobot runs down six possible influences for such a story in the Batman archives, from comic books to video games to television. There have been some stellar and iconic Batman arcs that would be primo for big screen adaptation. While we’ve seen riffs on Batman: Year One with Christopher Nolan‘s Batman Begins and of course The Dark Knight Returns in BvS, the amount of great, cinema-worthy stories that exist and remain untapped is staggering, and that gets us excited.

Whether it’s Jeph Loeb’s excellent The Long Halloween (a teensy bit of which was used for The Dark Knight) or the Batman: The Animated Series episode “Almost Got ‘Im,” there are dozens of multi-villain pile-ups to choose from. Heck, even the Arkham series of video games seem ripe for the plucking, given Batfleck’s fighting style.

But what do you guys think? Which Batman comic, game, or episode of television would make the best big screen Ben Affleck movie? Which villains do you hope show up? You can let us know all your thoughts in the comments below!
