STAR TREK and STAR WARS Collide in Fan-Made Mash-Up Trailer

YouTuber SonOfSpork has done the world a service by bringing us this trailer for The Carbonite Maneuver (1985), a mashup trailer for the Star Wars/Star Trek crossover that we would pay top dollar to see. The editing work is fairly solid, and luckily the added effect of making it a VHS-quality video from an alternate 1985 helps hide what flaws there may be in it. The final product is a promise of a film I too have long dreamed of, but know it can only be relegated to our imaginations and arguments on internet message boards. This job has allowed me a lot of opportunities to see various mashup videos online, but none has ever been so exciting and heartbreaking at the same time.

SonOfSpork seems to be quite the fan of science fiction, as can be deduced from the few videos on his YouTube channel. The Carbonite Maneuver is the only one of its kind, at the moment at least, with the rest being a few visual effect tests and a tribute to the sci-fi B-Movie Zone Troopers. SonOfSpork has shown some of his abilities with video effects and editing, and if The Carbonite Maneuver is only the beginning we can look forward to even more fun videos from him.

So, now I dare to as a question that always seems to end in black eyes and broken friendships. Do you think Kirk and The Enterprise could hold their own against a pursuing Star Destroyer? Let us know in the comments below.
