Spoon Release New Single ‘Rent I Pay’ and Share Cover Art For New Album, THEY WANT MY SOUL

After a brief hibernation period and plenty of time for Britt Daniel to blow off some creative steam with the Divine Fits, Spoon is back with the boot-on-dirt thump of their new single, “Rent I Pay.” This track will feature on They Want My Soul (out August 5 via Loma Vista), their first album since 2010’s Transference.

“Rent I Pay,” which the band first debuted live at Le Poisson Rouge in New York, is the sort of the elemental studio construction that broadly characterizes Spoon–from the minimal guitars to the carefully panned piano and organ flourishes, and of course Daniel’s perfectly coarse vocals. Once you listen to “Rent I Pay,” Check out They Want My Soul’s spooky/spiritual album artwork and track listing below.
