Spider-Man Gets a CIVIL WAR II Tie-In Miniseries

There’s a second superhero Civil War brewing in the Marvel Universe, and Spider-Man will once again find himself in the middle of it. Marvel has announced that a four-issue Civil War II: Spider-Man miniseries will launch in June.

Frequent Spider-Man collaborator Christos Gage will write the Civil War II tie-in miniseries, with art provided by Travel Foreman. The entire Civil War II storyline revolves around a new Inhuman who has the ability to predict the future with a high degree of accuracy. Spider-Man is coming in on Captain Marvel’s side, as she want to use the new Inhuman to preemptively stop threats while Iron Man’s faction opposes her.

For the tie-in miniseries, Peter Parker will attempt to “to impart some of his wisdom on the issues of power and responsibility to this new Inhuman, as long as the ol’ Parker luck doesn’t get in the way.” But it can’t be any worse than the time he potty trained the Beyonder in Secret Wars II.

In Marvel’s first Civil War event, few heroes lost more than Spider-Man. After coming out in favor of the Superhuman Registration Act with Tony Stark, Spider-Man unmasked himself as Peter Parker and he was branded an outlaw when he turned against Iron Man. Peter’s beloved Aunt May was then seriously wounded by a sniper, and he had to give up his marriage to Mary Jane Watson in a deal with the devil to save his aunt! Some Spider-Man fans are still upset about that.

But considering that the Civil War II tie-in won’t be a part of Dan Slott’s ongoing Amazing Spider-Man series, Spidey may slide out of this superhero conflict more or less intact.
