It’s rapidly becoming a must-see tradition on preview night to see DC Collectibles showcase their next few waves of product in a showroom next door at the Marriott; this year, following a press preview hour, it was even open to the public. Amid free soft pretzels and temporary Gotham City Garage tattoos, we got our first glimpses of some new collectibles we’d only seen in pictures thus far…and some not at all prior.
Batgirl and Harley Quinn are going to remain perennial favorites for a while, judging by the offerings.
Along with Supergirl, they make up a new line of DC Cover Girls statues.
Harley also has her own “red and black and white” artist’s statue line to accompany “Batman black and white.”
Notable in the latter category are a Becky Cloonan Bats…
And Batman as MAD Magazine’s Spy vs. Spy–both at once!
For new collectors and fans of classic looks, DC Essentials will feature a back-to-basics approach with action figures of the DCU’s primary players in their signature looks. Particular care has been taken to make them all to scale with each other and in the same style.
Unfortunately, those snazzy bases are just customs for the show. The cotton balls on Superman were a bit of a giveaway.
The yellow around Batman’s bat is more modern than classic, but at least it isn’t New 52.
The cardboard diorama behind Nightwing will be a giveaway at DC’s booth, with several different themes available over the course of the con.
Given toy turnaround time, we can assume they thought Deathstroke would still be the next Batman movie villains.
We’ve known since May about the stylized “Artist’s Alley” line of statues. There will be many color variants, including a Joker-as-Batman…
…and Zombie Batman.
Previously unrevealed versions of Nooligan’s Batman and Sho Murase’s Harley and Ivy were also unveiled.
(A touch of Cruella de Vil, maybe?)
This hefty Bat-signal light allows for some variety, depending which logo you prefer.
DC’s big three will be getting a new dynamic statue, with Superman held aloft behind Wonder Woman and Batman.
And here’s one to give you a run for your money.
The Batman animated line will continue with a massive, figure-scaled Jokermobile.
The eyes and mouth light up, and it can seat four figures.
Need a Joker to drive it? No problem! With the success of the recent Batman “Expressions” figure that came packed with multiple, interchangeable faces, the Clown Prince is following suit. Fans of making figure animations should have some fun with this.
Alongside Joker, of course we get an Expressions Harley too. Complete with giant fish head.
We showed you the new Gotham City Garage statues on Tuesday, and got to pick up some cool temporary tats in that vein.
Harley. Motorbike. Yeah, the connection seems obvious when you write it down.
Finally, the successful Bombshells action figure line will continue with Black Canary and Zatanna.
