Wipe the blood from your teeth and get in the pit, it’s time for a recap of this week’s best hardcore, metal, and punk rock. We dug through the record crates to find the new tunes we think you need to spin and rage to. Strap in, kiddies, it’s time to rock.

Bloodiest is streaming a track called “Mesmerize” from their forthcoming second album. It’s a droning, doom-driven affair that builds for an intense five minutes. If this is any indication of how the album will be, it’s gonna be a must-buy. The record isn’t due out until early next year, so we’ll have to keep this track on repeat for the time being. If you need some death metal in your life (don’t we all?) check out Crator. The band features members of Origin, Gorguts, and Skinless, so you know they bring the heavy. While they haven’t released anything official yet, Crator is offering a free demo track and the promise of more to come in 2016. You listen to “The Echo That Conquers Voice” below and download it for free on the Crator’s bandcamp page. Keep a close eye on these guys.

Man, Total Abuse makes some ugly, ugly punk rock. There’s nothing pretty about their new album Excluded. It’s the kind of punk that sounds like you made a tape from a friend’s tape and played it in your basement until it frayed and split. Like I said, ugly stuff. Personally, I love this kind of thing. There’s an honesty to music this raw, something personal and real. You can stream the album in it’s entirety now and pick it up when it drops next week, courtesy of Deranged Records. (via Noisey)

On November 27th you’ll be able to pick up the newest single from Self Defense Family titled “When the Barn Cave In.” That track is backed with the song “Alan,” which you can stream right now. If you’ve listened to this band before, you know what you are getting. It’s as straightforward as ever, with vocals that are shouted and emotional. It’s earnest stuff and definitely worth checking out.

As we get towards the ended of the year, the forecast on new releases gets lighter and lighter. There’s just not a ton out this week, so let’s take a look at a few things that came out a little bit ago that you might have missed.

First, there’s the new Loma Prieta album, Self Portrait. It’s out now from Deathwish Inc. and it is spectacular. Their sound is often billed as hardcore, but tying it to that one specific genre is a disservice to an amazing band. Loma Prieta is intense and exposed, a band that feels like it is constantly mere moments aways from total collapse. Self Portrait is beautiful stuff that you absolutely need to check out. Watch the video for their song “Love” and then take the money out of your wallet and buy their album.

Lastly, if you are into heavy music, you have probably at least heard of Deafhaven. Their recent album, New Bermuda, came out a few weeks ago and it is superb. The album mixes soaring, shoegaze infused melodies with dark, black metal. Deafhaven are critical darlings, which has naturally resulted in push back from the metal community who seem to have labeled them everything from “frauds” to “hipster metal.” Any way you cut it, good is good, and New Bermuda is good, so don’t miss out on it because of angry, jealous commenters.
