Scream at a Wall: Our Favorite Hardcore, Metal, and Punk Releases of the Week

‘Tis the season to hail the dark lords and raise your horns, it’s time for a recap of this week’s best hardcore, metal, and punk rock. We dug through the record crates to find the new tunes we think you need to spin and rage to. All hail Cthulhu, peace on Earth, and good will to mankind.

Magrudergrind have released a track from there upcoming Relapse album, II. This one is produced by the godly Kurt Ballou and holy crap, guys, it’s freaking awesome. Brutal, intense, and blistering, this stuff is hardcore nirvana. You can – and should – pre-order the album now on Relapse’s site. (via Noisey)

Framework is a band with lots of raw energy. They sound like somebody broke their hearts and they’re pretty torn up about it. They just previewed the track “Timespent” from the upcoming album of the same name and it’s angsty stuff. Beautiful at times, intensely angry at others, it’s a damn good song that hits all the right notes.

Bloodiest have release another track from their upcoming album self-titled album. This one is called “Suffer” and it’s more post-metal goodness. I’ve had the pleasure of checking out this whole album and it is freaking fantastic. It hits shelves in January from Relapse and you would be a fool not to pick it up. A fool I tell you. Seriously, good stuff, people.

Look, if you are going to make a heavy metal music video for a band like Pilgrim, you might as well get a guy like Jon Schnepp (Metalocalypse) to direct it. This video is something else. I don’t know that you can call it “good,” I think “special” might be a more appropriate term, and that is not a bad thing. This is the kind of jam we used to get from bands like The Sword (who now sound more like a weird version of The Allman Brothers Band). Check out the video for “The Paladin” below.

Finally, if you have not had the pleasure of seeing Metz live, do yourself a favor and watch their latest video for the song “Spit You Out.” In addition to putting out one of the best records of the year (the uniquely titled II) these guys also happen to be one of the best live bands around. Their shows are unbelievable, intense and chaotic, punk as all hell. This video can sorta give you an idea, but if Metz comes to your town you buy a ticket to their show and you go see Metz. They are the real deal.

That’s it for this week. Keep the holiday spirit alive and thrash hard with your loved ones. If there’s a metalcore, grindcore, hardcore, or any other core song you think the world needs to hear, sound off in the comments below. \m/
