Scream at a Wall: Deviled Eggs for Easter Edition

Wipe the blood from your teeth and get in the pit, it’s time for a recap of this week’s best hardcore, metal, and punk rock. We searched the darkest corners of the Internet for all the best tracks for inciting a riot in your own home. If you’re having an egg hunt, make ’em deviled eggs and crank our latest pick as your soundtrack.  Strap in, kiddies, it’s time to rage.

Adventure Time from Cartoon Network

This new song from Sumac might be the heaviest thing we have ever heard. Like, just listening to it sucks the air out of the room and crushes your soul. The band is led by Aaron Turner—the guy behind bands like ISIS and Old Man Gloom—and also features Brian Cook on bass (he was in Botch, one of our favorite bands ever). So perhaps it’s no surprise that Sumac absolutely destroys. Check out “Rigid Man” from their new album What One Becomes, which you can pick up on June 1o via Thrill Jockey.

Weekend Nachos have released a tasty (get it?!) track from their upcoming and final record, Apology. It’s that same ol’ raw brutality we love: ugly, fast, and true. These guys play a brand of powerviolence and hardcore punk that we can’t help but adore. Also, their name is Weekend Nachos, which is fun! You should really check out their entire back catalog and then spend some time with “Writhe.” This is probably our favorite track of the week, if we had to pick a favorite, which we do not.

“Breath Of Innocence” is track from Imperial Triumphant’s new EP, Inceste. These folks play the blackest of metal, ritualistic and dark. Listening to this song is like gazing into the pit of Hell and summoning the darkness within. You can pre-order this monster for $6.66, cause these guys are that committed. Perfect tunes for when the family stops by on Easter morning.

Snake Snake Snake is not as evil as their name makes it sound. In fact, they play punk-infused garage rock that you can boogie to (assuming you still boogie), which isn’t evil at all. The song “In My Head,” which you can hear below, is a perfect example of their rockin’ sound. These dudes have a new album coming on April 15 called Tranquilo. If this first track is any indication, it’s gonna be rad.

Every new song we hear from Hesitation Wounds gets us more and more pumped for their record. This supergroup just released the track “New Abuse,” and it’s freaking great. You can hear a lot of what Touche Amore was doing on their last record in it, but it also has a These Arms Are Snakes feel. It’s heavy, but ambient and roomy—more so than the previously released tracks (which were blazing, intense numbers). We dig where this is going and eagerly await the album’s release date of May 27.

Rumor has it that The Dillinger Escape Plan have entered the studio to record a new album. That makes us happy because their last album was crazy awesome. If you missed it when it hit shelves in 2013, then you can and should check it out below thanks to the magic of YouTube. It’s called One of Us is The Killer and it’s the band’s best album in years. We’re putting this one on repeat until we hear more about this new rumored record.

That’s it for this week. Go forth, throw some horns up, and keep spinning in the black circle. If there’s a metalcore, grindcore, hardcore, or any other -core song you think the world needs to hear, sound off in the comments below. \m/
