Improv Everywhere set up a lectern and megaphone in NYC instructing people to “Say Something Nice”. Â This was an awesome exhibition, and I can definitely see how the positive energy could brighten up someone’s day, but it would eventually turn into everyone’s personal soap box or karaoke machine. Â I can just imagine some of the outtakes. Â No, we can’t have nice things.
Say Something Nice
As a former New Yorker, I have my doubts about that. New Yorkers are really nice in my experience, but opinionated, so if you did something that wasn’t nice, you’d get booed off pretty quick. Further evidence of the niceness of New Yorkers is Tweenbots—a robot that got put in Washington Square and asked passersby for help in getting to its destination. Everybody helped!

I had the same thought about the outtakes; you know there was atleast one “Obama’s a Kenyan” and likely several “Justin Bieber sucks” or “Nickelback sucks”.
Ironically, I watched this the other day! 😀
Improve Everywhere does a lot of other amazing/funny things, though I only recently found out about them after their presentation at Vidcon this year.
I think this was a nice way for spontaneous people to share a positive message with complete strangers for the chance that it made someone’s day a little bit brighter; I know it made mine.
