ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY’s Trailer is Coming Really, Really Soon

Back in 1998-1999, before we knew or had any inkling that Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace was going to be awful, people bought movie tickets to movies that were showing the theatrical trailer and then get up and leave after it was over. People paid upwards of $10 (it was almost 20 years ago, after all) to watch a three minute trailer. Well, in 2016, people might just do a similar thing with their DVRs, because a three-minute trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is very likely going to be shown on July 15, according to MakingStarWars.net.

Why would there be a listing for a trailer on primetime TV? It appears to be part of ABC Network’s presentation of the awesome documentary Secrets of the Force Awakens: A Cinematic Journey that played at South by Southwest earlier this year before it was released as a bonus feature of The Force Awakens Blu-ray release. According to a couple of different sources—like ABC’s website and DVR/cable listings—the July 15 airing of the documentary will begin at 8pm ET and contain “a 3-minute trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

Hey, look at that! It says it there. But what about another example?

And it’s right there as well! What do you know about that?!

Friday, July 15, is also the start of Star Wars Celebration Europe in London, so it seems increasingly likely that the trailer will be shown to the attendees there and then however many hours later (the UK is five hours ahead of the U.S.’s east coast) show the trailer on network television. Naturally, we’d assume the trailer will show up online before that happens, but in case it doesn’t, y’all should plan to be home to watch it, or at least DVR it. Because, a new Star Wars trailer is always cause change your evening’s plan.
