What We Learned from the RED DEAD REDEMPTION 2 Gameplay Trailer

Rockstar Games’ Red Dead Redemption 2 has been high on our most anticipated games list since it was finally confirmed two years ago. Not even a few delays have managed to diminish our interest in revisiting this open world Western. Rockstar’s latest gameplay video has revealed a much deeper game than the first Red Dead Redemption, which is only making us more excited to play it. Today’s Nerdist News rides into the sunset to explore the details we discovered in the trailer.

Join host and the last surviving descendant of the Van der Linde gang, Jessica Chobot, as she goes over some of the most intriguing aspects of the Red Dead Redemption 2 footage. This game is a prequel set about ten years before the first Red Dead Redemption, which put players into the boots of John Marston and his quest for revenge. In the sequel, gamers will take control of Arthur Morgan, a vital member of the Van der Linde gang. This may put players in the odd position of befriending or antagonizing characters they met in the first game.

This time, players can resort to different ways to resolve violent confrontations. Morgan has the option to talk his way out of trouble and deescalate situations as needed. We’re also quite charmed by the way Morgan has to tame his horses and bond with them. This actually serves a purpose, because the well-treated horses will trust Morgan during tense moments in the game.

While this gang of outlaws will constantly be on the run, it appears the world of Red Dead Redemption 2 will be much bigger than the previous installment. We could lose a few days just riding around in the first game, so we’re salivating at the prospect of a bigger canvas to explore when Red Dead Redemption 2 arrives on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on October 26.
