Postmodern Jukebox Puts a Jazzy Spin on ‘Bad Blood’ by Taylor Swift

It is barely even a matter of time anymore before the gang over at Postmodern Jukebox will have a vintage cover of a new pop song available after it hits the radio. This seems especially true when it comes to Taylor Swift. With her newest summer track, “Bad Blood,” Swift confirms that she has 100% shed the facade of being a country artist and embraced her place as Pop Queen. So, what better way to celebrate than make a cover of her song in style of The Queen Of Jazz, Ella Fitzgerald?

The original song doesn’t hold much of a melody at all, which gives Jukebox and guest singer Aubrey Logan the go-ahead to create a freight train of jazz to barrel through the song. This makes it even more impressive to hear Ms. Logan take down the verses by Kendrick Lemar in almost twice the speed of the original song. Sadly, even the jazz era twist on the song can not fix the ridiculous lyrics that come out of this song’s chorus.

Despite what my feelings about the original song may be, Postmodern Jukebox can always find a way to make modern songs more enjoyable. Plus, that is actually Aubrey playing the trombone on the track. Now that is a talented young lady.

What do you think of this 1940s stylizing of “Bad Blood?” What other songs do you still want Postmodern Jukebox to do a cover of if they haven’t already? Let us know in the comments below!
