Backstreet Boys Get A Jazzy Lounge Cover

Scott Bradlee & Postmodern Jukebox are the YouTube darlings that take pop hits and remake them in more vintage styles of music. The songs they have covered come from all over the pop charts and the decades, and the styles they cover them in range the spectrum as well. They’ve performed Nicki Minaj’s “Anaconda” as a Bluegrass Hoe Down, Ariana Grande’s “Love Me Harder” like a classic James Bond theme, and even Cyndi Lauper’s “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” in a style they refer to as a “Vintage 1912 Bioshock Infinite Style.” This is even more fitting knowing the Lauper single actually plays in Bioshock Infinite, granted in a subtle fashion.

One of the group’s latest releases takes aim at a juggernaut of the 90s. The decade belonged to the synthetic snare drums and forlorn love of the boyband, and no ballad was more instantly recognizable than “I Want It That Way” by The Backstreet Boys. As much as some may try to pretend otherwise, we still know the lyrics by heart. Even more fitting is the fact that Postmodern Jukebox covers the song in a ’70s Soul and Doo Wop style. The song pays homage to the groups and music style that paved the way for the modern boyband, while also triggering the nostalgia in 90s kids everywhere.

Check out the song below, and see what other covers the group has done at their YouTube channel.
