What the First Look at the Post-INFINITY WAR MCU Tells us About AVENGERS 4

Avengers 4 is slated to hit theaters on May 3 next year, so eventually Marvel will have to officially tell us something about it, right? (No, seriously, will they?) Until then we’re on our own hunting down clues about the movie’s plot from anywhere we can find them, and now we’ve unearthed maybe the most-telling insights yet. A new supplemental novel for Infinity War has given us our first real look at what the MCU is like after the Mad Titan snapped half of all life out of existence. Today’s Nerdist News looks at the theories the book seemingly confirms, what new information it revealed, and what old characters might return to help restore order to the universe. That is if Earth’s mightiest heroes can stop an even more dangerous threat.

Dan Casey hosts today’s (potentially spoiler-y) show, which examines the surprisingly revealing official tie-in novel with the heinously unruly title Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War: The Cosmic Quest Volume 2: Aftermath. Turns out some popular, very smart characters from Thor survived, and they’re working on the mystery of why half of humanity vanished into puffs of dust. Could we see them in the next film? Will their insights into the Reality Stone be the key to using the Quantum Realm? And why would the Avengers hide the truth from everyone? Does it have anything to do with that looming, even more dangerous threat we keep hearing about?

If Avengers 4 takes place a few years after the *”Decimation Event,” in a world that is getting along just fine, does that mean we’re not getting an official title for that long too? That would be worst than when Thanos won in the first place. Talk about a dark, post-Infinity War world.

*Editor’s Note: The word “decimation” actually means “reduce by 10%,” which is still pretty devastating on a grand scale, but rather undercuts the gravity of losing half the life in the universe.

What do you make of all of these insights into life after the Snappening? Tell us in the comments what you think it all means for Avengers 4.
