It’s been known for awhile that Hulk’s role in the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok would echo the jolly green giant’s own story from the Planet Hulk comics from a few years back, where Dr.Banner was a gladiator on an alien world. Now we know just how close the movie will come to the comics visually…and it’s quite a lot!
Earlier in the year, various sources teased that Hulk would be wearing his gladiator armor from Planet Hulk, and now we have our first look at the armor that “always angry” Bruce Banner will be wearing in the film. This comes courtesy of Marvel’s Ryan Penagos, who shared the following image on his Instagram account:
Let me be the first to say this looks super spot-on to the comics art, and I think it will be very few fans who will be complaining about how this doesn’t look close to the art from the original source material. It’s not yet known just what percentage of the movie will be based on Planet Hulk, and how much will be based on classic Thor comics, but recent rumors have stated that Thor and the Hulk will most certainly be fighting in some gladiatorial games run by the Grandmaster. The Grandmaster is of course being played by Jeff Goldblum, which makes the notion of Grandmaster even being in the movie that much more cool.
With the Marvel Studios panel happening at the end of Saturday at SDCC, it’s quite possible we might be getting our first glimpse of the Hulk in full gladiator mode, beating the tar out of Thor. Thor: Ragnarok hits theaters on November 3, 2017.
Excited about Hulk and Thor beating the crap out of each other in the ring?? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
