Peter Capaldi to Guest Star on CLASS, New FLASH Season 3 Trailer, and More TV News

I know, I know. It’s the beginning of your work week, and you may be less than thrilled about it. Ease back in. I suggest taking a few minutes to catch up with today’s TV-Cap. You’ll learn the premiere date and a special guest star coming to the Doctor Who spinoff Class, you’ll see a new trailer for the next season of The Flash, you’ll see a new Simpsons couch gag featuring Adventure Time, and more.

An Education. The Doctor Who ‘verse is expanding with the spin-off Class, and it’s about time. BBC has announced the show geared toward younger viewers will premiere on October 22. And hey, guess who will stop by the premiere? Peter Capaldi’s Twelfth Doctor. He’ll be the one to charge the youthful cast with their task of guarding the Earth, more or less. No pressure. [Nerdist]

Strong Recurrence. When Supergirl returns on October 10, it will have a new face. Brenda Strong is joining the cast in a recurring role. Let’s hope this lasts longer than her stint on The 100. [CBR]

Sing It Out. John Barrowman keeps busy. These days, he’s playing Malcolm Merlyn across three DC comics series on The CW. Alicia caught up with the actor and asked him about his turn as a villain, Doctor Who, and more. Watch the above video to get the scoop. [Nerdist]

BTS. Marvel is going behind the scenes of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. with a new series called Forging Marvel’s S.H.I.E.L.D. In the first installment, they talked to visual effects supervisor Mark Kolpack about the making of Ghost Rider. It involves actor Gabriel Luna donning a specific motion capture hood; learn more in the above video. [Nerdist]

Under Wraps. American Horror Story is a series that uses secrets to its benefit, adding to the mystery. Case in point, there’s a whole other season in the works. Series co-creator Ryan Murphy told Entertainment Weekly that he’s spent two years working on a secret season. He said, “I don’t know when it will [air] but it’s also an experiment. It’s a different way of doing it. It’s one person writing all episodes. I don’t know if it’s going to work but it’s like, well, let’s try that. We might get them done and shoot them on the sly and drop it.” [Nerdist]

Cartoon Life. Fox’s Son of Zorn combines live action and animation, and as you can imagine, that’s a tricky combination to manage. Titmouse Inc. Animation Studios is responsible for making the cartoon aspects fit in, and you can get an exclusive look at how they’re making the magic happen in the above video. [Nerdist]

Racing Around. Existence isn’t the same when season three of The Flash drops on October 4. Barry changed reality at the end of season two, and oh boy, there were consequences. A new extended trailer teases his first meeting with Iris West, billionaire Cisco, and Kid Flash. Heck. Yes. Who else is excited? [Nerdist]

No. 100. Arrow’s 100th episode happens to fall during the likely-to-be-epic four way crossover between all the Greg Berlanti-produced DC superhero shows. That’s a lot to handle in a single script, and from a pic shared by series executive producer Marc Guggenheim, they’re going all in and bringing back a couple of familiar faces. Jamey Sheridan’s Robert Queen is returning, and another photo shared by Katie Cassidy reveals she’ll appear as well. [TVLine]

Bart the Boy. The Simpsons have taken on goodness knows how many franchises in their couch gags (I’m sure the internet has an answer to that). Their latest focus is Adventure Time! The bizarre opening to the Cartoon Network series is actually rather darn fitting for The Simpsons. PS: Can these series please cross over? [Nerdist]

To the Hellmouth. Like Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Stranger Things? Then practice some self care and watch how YouTuber Tony Harley gave the Netflix series a Buffy-esque intro. [Nerdist]

Space and Demons. Star Wars Rebels returned with a two-part premiere for its third season. Read my recap of “Steps Into Shadow” to get caught up on the latest happenings of the Ghost crew. The weekend also brought the debut of The Exorcist TV show; read Samantha’s review.

What do you expect from the next season of The Flash? Will you be tuning into Class? Talk to me in the comments.
