Nintendo and Tecmo Koei to Bring Back FATAL FRAME on Wii U

Any Wii U owners who may be bummed out about the console’s exclusion from the Dragon Age: Inquisition festivities just received a perfectly justifiable reason to smile: Tecmo Koei and Nintendo are partnering up to reawaken the long absent Fatal Frame franchise with a brand new sequel.

The news surfaced by way of a Famitsu report, which also claims the franchise is expanding its universe this fall with a live-action film from director Mari Asato (Bilocation), a novel by author Eiji Otsuka (The Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Service), and a comic book from writer Shin Kibayashi (Kindaichi Case Files). Similar to the game Outlast in that players are forced to progress through horrific environments and scenarios without any weaponry, the original Fatal Frame is regarded as one of the scariest horror games of all time. It should be interesting to see how the new game is received by the western Wii U crowd, a seemingly casual demographic on a platform not known for its core titles.

Do you think Fatal Frame is the console-selling title the Wii U has been looking for? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.

So…..you’re saying I need to get a Wii-U now?…..consider it done….it’s done….its in the corner of my room now……and now we wait (while also waiting for Bayonetta 2, but that’s neither here nor there).

Based on the initial posters comment. yes, Yes, yes I will get this!

I don’t know if it’ll be a console-seller, but I do know that when I heard Fatal Frame IV was coming to the Wii, I went out and bought a new TV (hadn’t upgraded to an LCD yet), and patiently waited for the release. They kept putting it off, and then they decided to only release it in Japan. I had even been contemplating getting the unofficial patch for English speakers to be able to play it, and spending the hundreds of dollars it would take to get the import (I think it may be cheaper now, but a few years back, when they released the patch, it was expensive to import), but now I’ll just wait for the new one for Wii U! Hopefully, they don’t end up cancelling this one!
