We are 33 days away from the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Disney is making sure we don’t forget it with yet another TV spot. While it only runs 30 seconds, if we get a bunch more of these during the holidays, we run the risk that almost all blockbusters do nowadays, and that’s giving fans all the big beats of the movie before they even enter the theater.
This particular spot doesn’t have a lot in the way of new footage, so I think we are safe. We get Rey and BB-8 walking (rolling?) through the desert, along with the Star Destroyer ruins (The first scene of the very first trailer we all saw). We also get the same scenes of Han and Chewie from previous trailers.
Among the few seconds of new scenes, Rey looks on as Tie-Fighters attack the temple/castle we have seen in earlier clips. Another scene shows Rey piloting the Millennium Falcon as Finn mans the gun turret. My favorite part was seeing Kylo Ren actually deflecting Rey’s blaster bolts with his lightsaber. So far all we have seen him do with it is activate it, swing it, and hold it as he uses the Force.
New footage or old, the anticipation is definitely still there for the return to the galaxy far, far, away.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens in theaters and IMAX on December 18.
So what do you think? Are you starting to finally get that “they’re going to show us the whole movie if they aren’t careful” paranoia? Or do you not care because nothing will ruin your Force Awakens experience? Let me know on Twitter or sound of in the comments below.
